I highly recomend them as they are cleverly written with a lot of laugh out loud dialogue. I love the chemistry between Lula and Stephanie, not to mention the chemistry between Ranger and Stephanie as well as with Morelli and Stephanie. It is dificult to choose wich one would be best for Cupcake/Babe. They both are very different, but one thing is for sure, they both lover her in their own way. This book was MOS from Stephanie Plum. She's still blowing up cars. She's still broke all the time. She's still undecided between Ranger and Joe. She's still doing TSTL things that put her life in danger. But, damn it, they're funny! This series is not romance and not mystery. Just plain comedy. I read this one as usual as a book on tape narrated by C. J. Critt. As I have said before, that's the major reason why I continue to read this series. Her voices for Lula, Grandma Mazer, and various assorted characters are wonderful to listen to, and I can't help myself, I laugh out loud. Literally. I have become a danger to drivers everywhere. I miss turns, forget where I'm going, stop at yellow lights (so I can listen longer in the car), and laugh hysterically while sitting at red lights causing looks from nearby drivers. There were a couple of times I was laughing so hard the tears were dripping out of my eyes. I don't think there was anything new in the "love" triangle going on between Stephanie, Joe, and Ranger. But we did get to see where Ranger lives (well one of them) and that was cool. I think Lula has some of the best lines. I wish I could talk with her sass and wit. One of these days I'm going to list my favorite Lula quotes here. I would love to see this series made into a movie. I'll have to think about who I'd like to see play Stephanie, Joe and Ranger. Lula, too. (Grade: B) Stephanie Plum usually encounters danger during her job as a bounty hunter, but this time it happens while she's off-duty. While buying nachos at a local deli, she witnesses a robbery and gets a good look at the robber's face. He wants Stephanie dead, but she refuses to stay inside Joe Morelli's (her on and off again boyfriend) house all day long, angering Morelli. She hides at Ranger's apartment (one of his apartments, that is), while trying to catch the gang leader before he has her killed. Janet Evanovich's books always have plenty of humor and this is no exception. Especially funny is the hiring of "Sally", a transvestite, as the wedding planner for Stephanie's sister's weeding. But nothing new really happens in this book although we get a glimpse of Ranger's apartment, and how he lives, at least part of the time. Connie is in the book a little bit more and the scene where she, Stephanie, and Lula "kidnap" someone is hilarious. But this book mostly reads like every other book in the series. Stephanie's car gets blown up, she eats too much and then worries about her weight, she and Morelli fight, she lusts after Ranger, etc. etc. Fans of Stephanie Plum will like this book, but it isn't the best in the series. This is airplane stuff....a quick fun/funny read. What a cast of characters!! ingen anmeldelser | legg inn en anmeldelse
