"Nachtboot" en "Gebroken" van deze auteur zijn verre superieur aan deze roman. In beide genoemde boeken staan maatschappelijke problemen centraal, maar in deze roman wordt ons vooral een indringend kijkje gegund in de Britse maffia-scene en dat is banaal en vervelend. ( )

Sami Macbeth komt uit de gevangenis waar hij onschuldig gevangen zat. Zijn zus, waar hij voor zou zorgen, is in zijn gevangenis tijd. Verslaafd gemaakt. Sami wil zijn zus terug en gaat op zoek en het ene na het andere probleem roept zich over hem af. ( )

Sami McBeth is released from prison after serving time for a crime he didn't commit. His one goal is to find his sister but fate steps in and he lurches from one disaster to the next. The more he tries to extricate himself from situations, the deeper he finds himself.

This is one of the best books I have ever read. It's very funny, action packed, mixed with a great story. It starts off with Sami MacBeth who is jail and about to go on parol. He returns home and his sister is not there. Sami was put in jail because a member of his band stole one of the most expensive diamond encrusted jewellery in the world. Now everyone thinks he is a master criminal when he's not. This is a geat read for older audiences. ( )
