The card in this book is not thing. It is an unusual and amusing person. Before I read this book,I had been expecting that which card appears in the story. But when I read the first page,I was disappointed because it wasn't thing.
In this story,Edward Henry is the card. He gets a lot of happiness because he is very lucky! ( )

Written in 1911, 'The Card' is the delightfully comedic tale of Edward Henry "Denry" Machin's rise to success in the 'five towns' (potteries district) of Staffordshire, England. I listened to the unabridged audio version of this book from LibriVox and found it to be thoroughly enjoyable and entertaining. ( )
