#146: Ronin, I know you said that it was modeled after The Jungle Book, but I didn't realize Gaiman had borrowed quite that much! It does explain that seemingly abrupt foray into a new world. I've already put The Jungle Book on ... You know what? I might go ahead and read The Graveyard Book first, to get the full impact, and then go back and read The Jungle Book afterwards. Just to appreciate how Gaiman adapted it fully. And to enjoy another true classic. I think that the similarities may have prevented me from ... So many books mentioned raise good memories, Charlotte's Web, Trixie Belden, Nancy Drew, Black Beauty (which apparently ... ... a "great books" reading group for the advanced readers in 5th and 6th. One of the books we had to read in that group was The Jungle Book and I do remember feeling rather bogged down in parts, but I also remember liking it. There is no question that Tom Sawyer, Huck Finn, Treasure Island and The Jungle Book are well-written, excellent books, but I find them all repulsive and always have, and there's nothing I can do about it.

That now brings the total number of worldwide WBR titles (that I'm aware of) to 98 - your listed 96 titles (in post #10 above) plus the Kipling ... ... seen it, but only in U.K. eBay listings. Also note that this RD edition contains the text of both the original The Jungle Book plus the subsequent The Second Jungle Book - hence the plural title. The reason RD might well have chosen not to release that title as part of the U.S. WB ... ... are still a number of books missing from this list.
However, the only other book that I still consider, but question is The Jungle Book. I have searched high and low for information on this particular book and have uncovered many hits for the Readers Digest 'Best Loved Books For Young Reader ... ... books for just those three figuring I would be able to track them down eventually... well, I haven't yet.
In regard to The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling, I am aware of this book but can only find information on it as being part of the Readers Digest 'Best Loved Books For Young Readers' ... I've always had a soft spot for the animated Jungle Book. ... S. Lewis The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe etc.
