Widely known to parallel the author's divorce from Watergate journalist, Carl Bernstein. Humorous, biting, recipes for bread pudding, linguini alla cecca and sorrel soup. Unfortunately, the writing and dialogue feels so dated; it's hard to get into what is an excellent story. I think I will watch the movie. I love 'Heartburn' because it's funny and sharp and completely different to anything in my own life. A story about a woman who discovers that her husband is having an affair when she is 6 months pregnant does not sound hilarious, but told by Norah Ephron the tale is witty, over the top and utterly vengeful. With recipes (which might not be worth trying - the measures don't sound correct...). I love New York, and this is as tangy as Wall street on an early May morning. Wonderful. I know that Ephron based this book on her own life, but I can't help feeling like the story and style were very dated - very neurotic 1980's. Pretty entertaining though. I finally read this book that made headlines years ago. Even without the history of Nora Ephron's personal life, it stands up quite nicely. ingen anmeldelser | legg inn en anmeldelse
