[edit] How do I create an account?

Just enter a user name and password in the green box on the home page. You'll use the same box to sign up as you'll use to sign in!

[edit] How do I change my username or password?

Change is easy. If you want to change your password, go to changesomething. If you want to change your username, email the following information to lindsey@librarything.com:

  1. your current username!
  2. your first and second choice of NEW username.
  3. your password for verification (feel free to change your password to something neutral while your account is being tweaked).

Lindsey will change your username and then email you to alert you when it's all done. Huzzah! Remember, it's lindsey@librarything.com. Call now, our operators are standing by - except not really.

[edit] What if I lost my password or forgot my user name?

Go to lostsomething. Or email lindsey@librarything.com with two rare-ish Titles from your catalog. Needles that most other haystacks don't have, in other words.

[edit] I lost all my books! Where did you put them?

Check your user name at the top right of the screen. What probably happened was you made a typo and created a second, slightly different account. LibraryThing's much-praised bare-bones sign in form has that drawback. For now, we're keeping it simple. Email lindsey@librarything.com if you need help finding your account.

[edit] I created a new account by mistake, how do I delete it?

Email your request to lindsey@librarything.com; make sure to include the Username and Password of the account you want deleted.

[edit] What if I don't want everyone to see what I have in my collection?

You can make your collection private. Choose Edit profile/account settings on your profile page, and then you'll see the option to make your library private.
