Emne:  'Currently Reading' LT Collection Question 0 / 13 lest

nov 5, 2009, 2:13am (topp)Message 1: Kerian

Have any of you had trouble removing books from your 'Currently reading' LT collection? Every time I edit a book listed on mine to remove the book from that collection, it shows up there again. I originally removed four of them from mine this afternoon, and tonight they're still there. I know a book must have at least one collection, but they all have another besides 'currently reading' so that can't be the reason for this. Is the only way to remove them from it to delete the book, and then re-catalog it under a different collection? Thanks for any help! :) This feature is frustrating. I want to use it, but if it won't work...

i haven't had any problems with it. How are you de-selecting the "currently reading" collection? I usually do it when in edit book mode, and i have a handy tick box. I just tried it by clicking the "set collections" icon next to the book in "your books", and that seemed to work just as well.

Generally my books are just in "your library" though, don't know if having them in multiple collections with different settings would affect the "currently reading" selection.

Sorry i can't be more helpful.

Removing books from collections on the Edit book page is random whether it works or not. if you use the little folder with the arrow on either the work page or in the catalog it has always worked that way.

I've found it easiest to open my currently reading collection and use the icon on the right to remove it. I've never had a problem with a book bouncing back.

Quite a few people have reported that changing the collection on the edit page doesn't work. I'm surprised that it has worked for MrA.

#2 MrA:
I've been hitting the pencil/edit button to the right of each book to edit them out. A handy tick box? :) No worries. Thank you anyhow!

#3 readafew:
It worked! Wow! I had no idea we could do our catalogs that way! Thanks very much for the tip. It's not only going to help me keep my sanity but save time, too. I was going about a long way to edit catalogs. :)

#4 bib:
Thank you. To remove it, are you then hitting delete, having it remain in another of your collections?

#5 jjwilson:
It must be because he is a pirate. ;)

No, no, no! I don't hit delete for anything, you just click on the little box icon to open up the list of your collections and click the one you want to deselect (or select). You DO NOT need to delete a book from anything ever.

8> Right, delete doesn't mean delete from a collection, it means delete from Librarything.

>#3, 5: I must have super "currently reading" collection powers. It's always worked for me.

>#8, 9: That's right. Tim comes around to your house and destroys the book. It's a little-known feature.

Okay, I got lost there. Thank you! You guys have all been the best help on this. :)

#11 MrA:
ROFL! No wonder LT keeps needing more staff. With increasing amount of LTers, he needs help destroying those books.

Well, I'm glad I haven't tested out that feature yet.
