We've just discovered Junie B. when we borrowed an audio CD from the library. The actress reading the books is brilliant and it's nice to not be the person doing the reading! My youngest just started kindergarten so he is relating to her experiences in a very real way and my third-grader enjoys the humor. Anyway, it's fun to find another adult who likes her (lots of people love YA fiction, but we're a long way from there!)

(Just, please don't put the Welsh book up for re-mooching, in good condition it seems to be worth a little bit of money and while I don't really object to booksellers, I don't like handing them somewhat valuable books either.)

I was also pretty sure I passed on "The Necklace" and got it anyway, although I did request "The Terminal Spy." I'm wondering if RandomHouse is just sending some of us stuff? I know you're buried in ARC's these days, but I did come across a book at a FOL sale I thought you might like. It's old, pre ISBN and not listed at BM - Title is Tales of the Welsh Hills. It's cute little welsh folk tales. I enjoyed it and I thought you might like reading it with your girls. It's cloth covered and in really good condition considering it's older than YOU are! (but not me!) And it's got a really sweet inscription. LMK when you have a chance.

I've never joined any of the groups because I doubt I'd have time to contribute. With keeping track of four blogs, plus all my other "online personas," plus trying to work once in a while ;) (oh, and see my wife from time to time), it's difficult. I'm on a few groups with Shelfari, but even there, I don't really have time to contribute like I should. I think I just have to limit how many more things I can join.

Hey I just read your comment on Candide. I wasn't really railing on it, I don't think. You kids with your new-fangled slang! Is railing bad (I sound like Frankenstein's monster...railing BAD!)? Not if you need to support yourself while using stairs or to prevent yourself from falling off a high balcony...

But I digress...

Um...oh yeah, I rated it 3/5 stars, which is average. Maybe I am just not a big fan of Olde Timey satire. I didn't like Castle Rackrent and I haven't liked anything by Jonathan Swift. Candide was the best of the bunch, though, so that's saying something.

To be honest I never really got a chance to get involved with the story and the characters in the book before a trip to the library and finding Gone with the Wind totally sidetracked me! The little I did read though reminded me, in a way, of Angela's Ashes. It's beautifully written, that much I know! =) I'll pick it up again later, I got a feeling it's a good read.

I guess it's a book I'll have to reread again. Part of the problem might also be that I'm not wild about modern apocalyptic stories, where a small group of people band together in abandoned houses and gas stations to battle some unknown zombie-like creature. But then again, I'm willing to give Stephen King a second chance on just about anything, so I'll add it to my ever growing list of books to read and reread!

Then if you want you can leave a comment on her blog that you've posted and follow the webring around to read everyone else's posts. Well, they are 15 and 13 so they aren't too little. Actually, I am more worried about me than them:)! While I was reading the book, I kept wondering how scary a movie had to be before it got an R rating instead of a PG13 rating. I have a feeling this movie may be one of those that we only watch a little bit of and then I send it back to Netflix. We wound up doing that with The Mummy because the boys just couldn't take it.

I liked those three too although I Am Legend was my favorite. I really enjoyed it and found it extremely scary. So much so, that I told my boys that I didn't know if we could take watching the movie! We plan on watching it over the summer but we may watch it the week that my girls go to my SIL's for a visit to we can watch it during the daylight!

I just returned the book to the library so I can't remember the names off the top of my head. I wasn't thrilled with the one at the carnival where the man plays the game and keeps on winning and I didn't like the one about the 4 college kids that seemed to be set in the 50s/60s and was about the loopy dance or something like that. I think I liked all of the others. Which were the ones that you didn't like?

We read the Wrinkle in Time trilogy with our two too. The youngest, four, fell asleep pretty quickly every night, but our oldest, seven, was rapt. We are currently on book four of the Series of Unfortunate Events and both children love it.

If you liked that it sounds like you may enjoy "Superstitious" by R.L. Stine. It was his "first" adult novel. Although, I don't know that he's written any since.

I tend to be meticulous about organizing information. If only my house were as clean as my profile page!

I don't even bother with a TBR pile. I have my "to purchase" but the LONG list of that is in the "I want to read that!" group just to keep my sanity (and then I can look up the touchstones.) My TBR pile is anything that doesn't have stars and/or a review. Some I've read and just haven't gotten around to yet.

I also like having a quick glance at what I've purchased and/or read in the last few books. (That way I can see that I purchased something that I should be reading, but haven't...lol.)

Your page isn't disorganized. And with three little ones I can understand not having time or being able to even think about updating!

How are the kids liking Wrinkle in Time? I remember reading it as a freshman, but I was so traumatized by the experience I had with that teacher that I disliked it very much. Lately, I've thought about giving it a second chance but there are SO many other books I want to read that I don't see it likely any time soon.

I am getting spoiled rotten for Mother's Day and every Mom should get a little surprise. (smooched all the known Moms on my friends list!)
There's a small package on it's way to you - it was delayed while I looked for a Maine postcard. (we live in Maine, but not one of the touristy areas, post cards are surprisingly hard to find! I asked my husband where I thought I should go to look for postcards and he told me to order some on the internet! lol)
