Yes, the demise of the local bookstore in America is a bit sad, but people must have their frappuccinos!
Astoria is very nice, and rent controlled is even better!
That's cool. I have a good friend who just moved from Queens to Manhattan (Washington Heights). Great place to live-if you can afford it!
Done! Just out of curiousity, which part of NYC do you live in?
Excellent book collection, Silver Surfer! You and I have a lot of book in common, though I've just discovered this site and am still in the process of listing mine. Nice handle, too. Norrin Radd is one of my favorite comic book characters.
Yeah, living in Texas is (to be blunt) pretty crummy. I miss California a lot. But, land is cheap and we live two people in a five bedroom house, so I have my library. Of course, with 1,400 books the library is full, along with the book cases in the den and the ones in the computer room.

I keep saying "I have so many books, I'll stop buying." But there's always great new stuff that I have to have!

(Sorry so many messages. I'm talkative today I guess...)
Silver,

Thanks, man. I'll check out your recommendations.

Hey, I saw you added Chrome to your library. That got me wondering, what percentage of your books do you actually own?

I don't know why I'm weird about it, but I only add books that I actually, currently have in my possession. I have a whole bunch of books I'd like to rate, but I can't since I don't own 'em:( It's strange, I know.

I used to have a slew of those Bad Boy erotic novels that would be fun to have in my library. Sadly they were lost in a move way back when. Maybe I can add them when collections rolls out.
Hey, glad I can help. My knowledge of useless trivia knows few bounds.

Actually I looked into Chrome in the past, when I was looking for a gay novel to read. That's why I already knew about that book. (I didn't know they were robots though. Guess that's why it's called Chrome, huh?) I was looking through your collection and checking your ratings to see what might catch my eye. Have you read the novel The Filly by fellow LTer Mark R. Probst? It sounds interesting, though I haven't picked it up yet myself.
Is 'Chrome' a gay sci-fi book? If so, that came up before in a discussion somewhere and I don't believe it's Marion Zimmer Bradley.

The one I'm thinking of is 'Chrome' by George Nadar (HC ISBN 0399121250; SC ISBN 1555836062). http://www.librarything.com/work/137345

If that's the one, it sounded pretty interesting, but used copies aren't cheap.

If I have the wrong book let me know and I'll try again.
Hey Silver,

I noticed you have the tag 'Tom Savage' on T.J. Phillip's 'Woman in the Dark'. Amazon is also linking their names together. Do you know if T.J. Phillips is a pen name for Tom Savage? If so, I'll link the authors together.
I noticed your name kept popping up in Connection News and I liked the books I saw. Very nice library.
silversurfer,

Thanks for the invite. It does seem like we share quite a few books in the horror genre.

Hi, Tony.
Thanks for friending me.

At first, I looked at your tags, saw only 3 sci-fi and 4 fantasy out of over 1,200 books and thought "Hmm, we don't have much in common." Then I looked at the Shared Books and saw 257 and thought "Wow!" LOL.

Just noticed: Man, you got those 1,200 books added to LT since July 29th--one week ago?? How did you manage that?? I've been a member over a year and a half and have only added 1,600 so far!

John
You have a cool library. Check my little one out. We have alot in common Silver Surfer.
