Om megMy mom (mrssnapdragon) and I are both big on history. Even though we both have our favorite topics, we love talking to each other about our books! If I want to get a rise out of her, I just tell her how terrible King Richard III was! Oh does she get mad then, hehe.
I love reading about British history, WWI and WWII, particularly France and Germany during the war years. I also have a great passion for historical romance novels (and some contemporary romance novels)! "Wuthering Heights" is my ultimate favorite book of all time!

Om biblioteket mittThe books in my library are mostly just the ones that I can think of thus far. I think I will keep it this way and just begin adding from what I read from now on. Thanks to my sister I am an avid reader of romance novels. After many years of refusing to read anything, especially romance, I finally accepted her entreaties when she placed Julie Garwood's "The Lion's Lady" on my lap. Since then I could not put them down. From reading historical romance novels (our favorite) I eventually became a lover of history and so I am also building a library with non-fiction history books. She and I have a shared collection of romance novels. I also collect old and new copies of "Wuthering Heights" my oldest copy dating back to the 1870's or earlier.

Well, thanks again for the suggestion. It has been a new experience for me to step outside of my comfort zone and read new authors but I'm finding that I have deprived myself of some real good reading that way. I liked Judith McNaught's style though... can I ask you to suggest another good book of hers? I'm starting Again the Magic by Lisa Kleypas today... Did the person you suggested the steamy book to end up liking it? :)
Hi missholyhock... Paradise is making me crazy. Thank you for suggesting it to me; I am glad that I stuck with it because the suspense is killing me. This is a first for me... reading a book that my friends didn't suggest first. I don't have anyone to call and rant and rave to about each chapter. It's a new thrill!
misshoolyhock, it's Mamalaz. I did not want to post in public in case I offend anyone, but the romance in Lord John books is between gay men. Fairly graphic. Just so you know.
I saw your post in one of the forums and had to jump in and say that It's kind of hard to really pinpoint Diana Gabaldon's genre. True, it's historical fiction, but oh! the romance!! And there's even a little bit of time travel thrown in. Please, don't let that keep you away. Outlander (the first book in the series) is the beginning of the greatest love story I have ever read.
