Om meg I love all things books. I work, part time in a library, but unfortunately, because I live in Montreal, our publicly funded libraries have to split the funds 70% French content and 30% English content - which leaves me with fewer choices than most of you.

I therefore scour sites for books - especially ARCS!!!

I have reviewed books for many sites, as well as for our local library newsletter. I do reviews in both English and French and as long as I have a book in my hand - I AM HAPPY!

While I use to read mainly thrillers, over the course of the last 5 years, I have noticed a definite shift towards non fiction (including memoirs), chick lit, recovery books, personal finance and teen books (they never use to write them like this when I was younger). I still love my thrillers though!

Om biblioteket mitt My little library (where I volunteer part time) is a little treature - it has a great collection of both English and French books.

Because the head librarian is French, I have been asked to submit a list of English books to purchase every month - and the librarian will usually end up buying 90% of my suggestions.

Do you still have your copy of Bone by Bone available? I have an ARC of My Husband's Sweethearts I could trade you for. Let me know....thanks:)
Julie
You're welcome :)
Thanks for accepting my invitation, Tina! Andrew Pyper is one of my favourite authors, and I plan to buy The Killing Circle. I haven't read Susan Juby yet, but know I'll love her books. Another terrific YA writer you might like is Richard Lewis.

All best,

Hannah
Tina, thanks so much for the great thriller suggestions! I just bought Dark of the Moon and Deviant Ways. I can't wait to read them. This is the time of year when I crave really good, creepy, scary reads.
Hi Nitestar, I was reading several of your posts on LT and found some helpful info. I am in Montreal too.. love your reviews..plenty of suggestions to read now hope to talk to you more later...Cindy
Hi Tina! I received MOSCOW RULES today. Thanks so much! I hope the BIRKIN arrives soon. It would be nice if it were the bag and the book. Irene
Hi Tina, Did you get my e-mail? Thanks Tracy
Hi Tina, Just wondering how long media mail to/from Canada takes? New at this; BIRKIN should arrive by 09/12/2008, which is long to me since it was mailed from Canada on 08/25/2008. Is this typical? Thanks, Irene
Hi Tina, No problem about mailing to Canada:) I will e-mail you later with a list of Arcs to trade for American Wife. Thanks Tracy. Having trouble with internet so maybe later tonight or tomm.
Yeah, I am looking forward to Getting the Girl. One of my girls has Alice, I Think. I did not know there were two sequels so we will will have to get them as well. I have four girls so I read a lot of middle school and YA fiction along with them or before them and then convince them that it is a great read. I am very lucky that all four girls have become voracious readers.
Great review on Gilding Lily. I am adding it to my wish list

I noticed you read THE FRIDAY NIGHT READING CLUB; I have COMFORT FOOD/ARC by Kate Jacobs. Also HAVE YOU FOUND HER/A MEMOIR/ARC by Janice Erlbaum (author of GIRLBOMB).
Thanks.... I actually think it was my fault as I hadn't noticed a button that said "activate" previously. All's well that ends well :-)
And I should send Dough to what address?
Hi Tina,

Finally found out what that cookbook is: [Eat, Shrink and Be Merry] by [[Janet and Greta Podlinsky]].
Well, I have American Wife and I'm not interested in the others, but you're welcome to Happy Hour. Consider yourself warned, though. :)

Just send me a private message with your address and I'll send it along.
Thanks so much! I received the copy of Aberrations yesterday. Both my daughter and I am looking forward to reading this very much.
Tina, can you recommend any good thrillers? It's a genre that I've never really gotten into (with the exception of Michael Crichton) but have always wanted to explore, so I'm sort of looking for a good diving-in point. Thanks!
I got an extra copy of Read my Lips so PM me your address and I will send it to you!
Thank you! See you on Thursday at noon then!
My pleasure! We have to keep enabling each other you know. :)
Me again,

Sorry to be bombarding you with messages today! I just got a copy of American Wife by Curtis Sittenfeld, which I can pass on to you if you are interested, once I'm done with it. And can you please check which street I should come in by to get to the security desk at PVM? I'm a bit geographically challenged, so I want all the odds on my side!

Thanks again and see you next week!
Avis
Hi again,

Check out the First Look site now; they've finally updated their list!

Avis
Hi again,

Well, this week is not going to work in the end, as I've got a project due on Monday that is turning out to be more time consuming that I expected. How about next Tuesday? I could meet you at lunchtime at PVM wherever you want.

Yeah, what's up with Shelf Awareness this month? I'm pretty sure both those books were on offer last month! (One of them was for sure because I considered requesting it and decided against it.) Have you had any of your reviews appear on their site? Mine hasn't yet.

Thanks again,
Avis
Thanks Tina, for the info about HC! I was panicking about missing the deadline, but if they've been having trouble with their system, hopefully they'll forgive me. How did you get that email address?

Too bad our book tastes don't overlap more because we could get twice as many books out of HC!

I'm glad to hear you're finally getting books from Shelf Awareness; I just received my second one today, which I'm very excited about (and both the books I've received are hardcovers, not ARCs!).

How about meeting sometime next week? Let me know where and when; I work from home so I can basically meet you whenever suits you (unless I have something due on that day, but so far next week looks clear).

Thanks again!
Avis
Thanks for offering me your review copy of Aberrations. I'll take you up on it! I'm on PBS, BM, and Bookins if you'd like points for it. Or I'll return it to you after I've read it if it turns out you love the book and want to keep it. Thanks so much!
Tina,
Thanks for letting me know about the book, I will have to put it at the top of the pile!
Julie
You'll probably see me review lots of her books as time goes on. My goal is to review all of my books, but I can only do a few at a time. I want them to be useful, you know? So, yeah. :)

Someday I'll get out to PEI, but it's probably not in the books for a few years yet.
Isn't it gorgeous? It's actually the Masonic library in Washington, DC. I'm ashamed to say that I didn't actually snap the picture, I found it on flickr and fell in love with it!
I joined your book blog webring, I just want to drop you a note saying thanks for being the administrator of this, and I'm really looking forward to reading other people's book blogs!

Thanks Tina! I'll be in touch once our move is done. Coming downtown to where you work (or nearby) is no problem at all.

:)
Avis
Hello! I just wanted to let you know that I received your comment about Bikeman, however I have lent it to my boyfriend for the time being. I'm short on funds at the moment, but I will be moving in a few months and if you still want the book then, I'll see what I can do about getting it to you. I've just finished reading it, and it was incredibly moving (as I suspected it would be). I was able to finish it in a matter of hours, but I will probably go back with a pot of coffee and spend some quality time with it once it gets back to me. I'll keep you posted! -N
Just to let you know, I received The Flirt today! Thank you so much! :)
oh, ok thanx anyways! Nice lirary!
Yeah! We do have it posted, Up For Grabs. Now if Ringsurf would actually display the profile that I have associated with it that would be nice. I've played with it several times and still nothing but the site name. But at this point that's better than nothing.

I appreciate all the help.

Thanks,
Marcia
Thank you, Tina~! I really appreciate your kind words!
Hello Nitestar-I have a question for you...do you like the warriors seires? Your name is Nitestar, so I thought you would

-BookNook1129
Ahh, I just read on your blog that you read "la Comtesse de Ségur" when you were a kid! So did I (I'm an anglo but I went to French elementary school). I've never met anyone else who's even heard of her! Do they really stand the test of time? Maybe we have more overlapping tastes than our libraries let on...
Hey fellow Montrealer!

Thanks for saying hello! Too bad our tastes in books don't overlap more... I enjoyed your review of Sharon Butala's book; I've read some of her others but had never heard of this one before. I presume you got it as an ARC?
Thanks for the heads up. :) It won't do me much good to buy Canadian stamps at this point, but I might look into getting a couple perhaps. I don't send much mail anyway so I guess it doesn't matter, huh?
Just thought I'd let you know that you're all set up on the blog now.
Have a good weekend. :)
Hi Tina!

I have forwarded your information to Dorothy from Virtual Book Tours and she will contact you directly. Let me know how it all works out!

Thanks,
~Lisa
Is that the email you use for wordpress, because it doesn't recognise you?
Hi, there's a special usergroup for reviewers, which I would add you to if you were joining the blog. then you'd be able to see a 'special access' forum. :)

However, as it says on the blog front page, my primary aim is to build up a resource of reviews.. the books that I'm able to offer are a bonus to that really.

Let me know if you're interested in joining the group of reviewers.
What book did you happen to snag? I have been extremely lucky since joining. I love this site. Take care-Melissa
Thank you, in return, Nitestar. I appreciate your support as well. It takes a lot of moxy to deal with any kind of addiction. And I'm happy to hear you enjoyed Moose. Maybe I'll be seeing you at one of the tour stops?
Hey Nitestar, thanks for letting me know about your review of Loose Girl! I can't wait to read it!
Thats okay I stole the idea from someone else! Tracy:)
Hi, thanks for getting in touch. If you mean you'd like to become part of the group blog at http://bcfreviews.wordpress.com, that seems fine. I would need you to join up to wordpress (you can request just a username, rather than an actual blog), and the forum.. does that sound ok?

If so, let me know the email that you use for wordpress, and the username on the forum, and I shall get all set up.

Michelle
OOps sorry the html examples didn't work! Message me privately with an email address and I'll email you what I was trying to say!!!
Hello! Um, well I just posted the URLS for the links people gave in my main LiveJournal profile, I think I put html around it with the URL in between the speech marks and the link text in between "> and
I received your request for Moose when I am done with it. I had already promised my copy to two others wanting to read it so I'm sorry I can't send it to you. Hopefully your post in the ER forum will get you the results you are looking for.
How lucky to have met some of her family members! I haven't even been to PEI yet, though I'd love to go there someday.

I keep meaning to review the rest of the books. With the exception of Christmas with Anne I've read them all now; I had them all on the shelf for ages but never got around to reading them. I find I still love her writing as much as I did when I was a young teen. That's always nice to find. :)

I'm not very familiar with Blogspot but I imagine there's some mechanism to allow you to add a list of links. If you can do that, you should be able to add all of our blogs to that list. That's how I did it, but I use WordPress so it probably works a little bit different. If you can't find anything like that, I can see if I have a blogspot account and try to find it to give more specific instructions about it.

Thanks for the compliments about my blog; it hasn't been very active because I had little to no traffic so I kind of lost the will to continue there since I have other ones that I keep up, but now that we're doing this here where we'll essentially give each other morale to blog about books, I'm more likely to go on in the future. :)
merci beaucoup! je suis francophone mais mon francais n'est pas tres bien. thanks for visiting my blog; i'm about to go visit yours & i appreciate the kind words! :-) -marie
I went to your blog, but could not comment. You need to change your settings to allow comments!!
Sorry, I'll be keeping it. I'm such a voracious reader that most of my books get reread to tatters! :)
Hi Shawn: Thanks for letting me know. I am sorry that I could not get the book, but I will keep a watch for others. PEI is far from EVERYWHERE - so you are absolutely right there! (beautiful place though).

Is emailing the person offering the book the best way to do it? or is it better to post directly on the site? I am pretty new and am not sure how to proceed.

Thanks alot and all the best.
