I love Stephen Cosgrove! When my siblings and I were little we had a few of the Serendipity books, and the Crickette/Cooty Doo topsy-turvy book. I was very excited when I found some of the topsy-turvy books on Amazon. I can't wait until my niece & nephews are big enough start reading them (without me, or the risk of ripping the pages... they're quite young).

So the big question is --- have you read Katherine Neville's THE EIGHT yet? If not I'd recommend it and then THE FIRE when it comes out.

I appreciate your kind remark about the review... And I had fun looking at the list of books we share. Your taste appears to be as eclectic as mine (or at least our posted books are across the spectrum!).

So you want to be a librarian when you retire? What are you doing now? What are you reading now?

I noticed that we have a few books in common and saw that you've recently added "Listening is an Act of Love". I'm curious to hear what you think of the book. A few years ago, I told my story to a storycorps van set up in San Francisco. It was great fun and I think it's a wonderful idea.

I hope you like The White Bone. Not to give it away, but I found it to be on the tear-jerker side.

LeGuin and McCaffery aren't in my library, you're right! I've only read 1 book by either of them. Keep meaning to read others since they are considered classic must-read authors... thanks for the advice!

Hi Nanci. I encountered Jesus and the Disinherited in a course I'm taking now called Religious Radicals: The Religious Socialism of Martin Luther King and the Civil Rights Movement. The course was the first place I'd heard of Thurman, and the book was a great read.

Hi!

I am still in the middle of reading "Dance Lest We All Fall Down" - I think it's an amazing book. I went to a presentation that the author gave in the Seattle area a couple of weeks ago - it was awesome. She showed a slide show of the girls and their families in Brazil, and pictures of the school also, and talked about how the school is doing. The author's experiences and her descriptions of them (in the book and in person) are remarkably intense and honest, and quite beautiful(I really like her writing style). I was thrilled about the way in which she set up her non-profit - by giving total power and control to the local people! Her journey, and the journeys of her friends are very moving and inspiring, and often heartbreaking. Her descriptions of the various levels of Brazilian culture are quite eye-opening (as are her observations of American culture, and the interaction between the two). What did you think?

Thanks for sending me the Cooper Edens bio link. It was really interesting. I wish I had more of his stuff, but I only have two "If You're Afraid of the Dark, Remember the Night Rainbow" and "Night Kitchen" (I think it's called). His stuff is really wonderful!

Always a pleasure to meet another dragon! You've got quite a collection for being a member for such a short time. I'm still trying to remember titles I no longer have, even though I remember the stories.

If you like YA and dragons, be sure to try Christopher Paolini's Inheritance series. So far, two books have been published, Eldest and Eragon with the third to be published shortly.

Yep, I have lots & lots of books. I am studying to be a librarian, and I just love books, words, writing and poetry. I couldn't believe this web site is sooo cool!! I have about 1/5 or less of my books on, but am doing a little at a time. Haven't picked out my fifty books yet. Am sort of a spontaneous reader, but there are things I want to get to. Am readingalot of young people--children's books this year.
